About
Located on the Kii Peninsula of central Japan, Mie is renowned for the Ise Grand Shrine, one of Japan’s most venerated Shinto shrines. The area is also famous for pearl cultivation, with the Ise-Shima region known for producing some of the world’s finest pearls. The coastline of Ise-Shima offers stunning views and rustic seaside villages, making it a popular destination for visitors. Additionally, the prefecture is home to the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes, a series of ancient trails that have been walked by pilgrims for over a thousand years.

- 【Position Details】
Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) work alongside Japanese teachers to make English lessons fun and engaging for the students. Practicing grammar and vocabulary, participating in games and activities to reinforce the lesson’s goals and communicating with students both inside and outside of the classroom are all part of a day’s work for ALTs.
⚫ Contract period: Immediate to March 25th, 2026
⚫ Contract type: Full-time
⚫ Level: Kindergarten, elementary and/or junior high schools
⚫ General working hours: Between 7:45 am to 16:15 pm (actual working time: 7 hours 00 minutes)
⚫ Salary range: Between 225,000 yen to 250,000 yen / month
⚫ Benefits: Social Insurance, Paid holidays (as stipulated by the contract)
【Requirements】
ALTs should be motivated, enthusiastic, professional and proactive in communicating with others. Successful applicants must also meet the following criteria:
🔺 Already be living in Japan and hold a valid visa permitting work
🔺 Have native-level English proficiency with natural phonetic fluency and a minimum of 12 years of education where the main language of instruction in all classes was English
🔺Be a university graduate holding a bachelor's degree or higher
🔺 Have conversational Japanese skills and be comfortable talking with teachers and staff
🔺 Are in good health and able to commit and complete the contract period (until March 2026)
🔺 Highly motivated, outgoing and friendly; able to proactively share ideas and communicate fully with other teachers
🔺 Hold a valid Japanese Driver's License or International Driving Permit (IDP) and be able to drive a car in Japan.

【About Toba City (三重県鳥羽市)】
A costal city in Mie prefecture, Toba is located on the Shima Peninsula, also known as Ise-Shima, and faces Ise Bay of the Pacific Ocean to the north and east. The area is famous for oysters and for cultured pearls, and hosts the highest number of traditional ama divers in Japan. There's plenty to see and do in Toba. The entire city area is within the borders of the Ise-Shima National Park. The vast Toba Aquarium is home to dugongs and rare giant isopods. Nearby are the ruins of the 16th-century Toba Castle. The Pearl Museum traces the history of local pearl cultivation. Tōshijima Island is renowned for its seafood. On nearby Kami-shima Island, trails lead to Shinto shrines and a lighthouse. While Toba is on the Sangu train line, a car is the fastest and most convenient way to get around the area. Make Toba your next teaching destination this year.
