【About Hachioji City (東京都八王子市)】
Western Tokyo, also known as the Tama area, refers to the various cities west of the 23 Special Wards that still make up part of the greater Tokyo area. Here you will find a greener, more suburban feel and relaxed atmosphere that still maintains the conveniences of big city life. Rent prices tend to be lower than what one would find closer to the heart of Tokyo, making this a great place to live as well as work. Commuting to central Tokyo via the Keio and JR Chuo lines is easy and fast, with Shinjuku often being less than an hour away. There are also many urban shopping centers around this area, as well as more natural and historical sights such as Mount Takao (popular hiking destination accessible by train/bus), Yakuou-in (mountainside Buddhist temple, Tama Forest Science Garden (expansive botanical park) and Hachioji Castle ruins (remains of an ancient castle once said to be haunted!) Our positions in this area are ideal for experienced teachers who be self-reliant and enjoy variety in their work week.
