【About Aisai City, Aichi Prefecture (愛知県愛西市)】
Located on the western edge of Aichi Prefecture, Aisai is shaped by its position between the Kiso and Nagara Rivers. Known as one of Japan’s premier agricultural hubs, the city is famous for its vast lotus root (renkon) fields. Every July, the Morikawa Lotus Field draws visitors to witness thousands of elegant pink and white blossoms rising from the marshes. The city’s history is deeply intertwined with the ancient Saya Kaido, a vital historical bypass for travelers on the Tokaido road who wished to avoid the treacherous sea crossing at Seven-Mile Ferry. Today, Aisai remains a peaceful retreat where tradition thrives through unique local rituals like the Kuda-no-Kayu fortune-telling ceremony at Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine. Food lovers shouldn't leave without visiting the Michi-no-Eki Tatsuta Fureai-no-Sato roadside station to sample lotus-themed delicacies, ranging from crunchy tempura to tasty lotus-root ramen and even soft-serve ice cream. Aisai is a great place to call home in 2026!

【About Chita City (愛知県知多市)】
Chita City is situated on the northern part of the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture. The city is historically famous for Chita Cotton, a high-quality textile that has been produced in the region for nearly 400 years. You can see this heritage in action in the Okada district, where one can visit Edo and Meiji-era townscapes and participate in hands-on weaving demonstrations. Chita also provides pleasant natural spaces, most notably Sori Pond, which becomes a beautiful sight during the annual Plum Festival. Thousands of plum trees blossom in early spring, making for a spectacular sight. The city also features a popular coastal spot, Shinmaiko (Blue Sun) Beach, suitable for swimming and recreational activities. Throughout the year, Chita hosts traditional events, such as the colorful Okada Spring Festival featuring elaborate floats and the ceremonial Daruma Festival in January. Chita has plenty to offer for those looking for adventure, so make it your teaching destination for the next school year.
