About Toba City
Toba is located on the Shima Peninsula, also known as Ise-Shima, and faces Ise Bay of the Pacific Ocean to the north and east. The area is famous for oysters and for cultured pearls, and hosts the highest number of traditional ama divers in Japan.

There's plenty to see and do in Toba. The entire city area is within the borders of the Ise-Shima National Park. The vast Toba Aquarium is home to dugongs and rare giant isopods. Nearby are the ruins of the 16th-century Toba Castle. The Pearl Museum traces the history of local pearl cultivation. Tōshijima Island is renowned for its seafood. On nearby Kami-shima Island, trails lead to Shinto shrines and a lighthouse.

While Toba is on the Sangu train line, a car is the fastest and most convenient way to get around the area, and will be required for work. Make Toba your next teaching destination this fall with Borderlink.
