【About Chiba City (千葉県千葉市)】
Chiba City is the capital of Chiba Prefecture and about 40 km east of Tokyo. It's also one of the Kanto region's primary seaports, giving the city a nautical atmosphere akin to other port cities like Yokohama and Kobe. A heavily residential area, there are also several major urban centers across the city, including the famous Makuhari Messe. Chiba City is famous for the Chiba Urban Monorail, the longest suspended monorail in the world. Other sights of interest include:
Chiba Shrine- a landmark with over a thousand years of history. Myoken, the North Star deity which the ancient Chiba Clan worshipped, is enshrined here and protects over the city. Unlike the major shrines in cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, where you'll likely be funneled into a crowd of other tourists, here you'll be free to explore the shrine grounds and discover its hidden charms at your leisure.
Chiba Folk Museum AKA Chiba Castle - the museum was built to resemble a traditional Japanese castle, hence its nickname "Chiba Castle." The museum's exhibits occupy five of the castle's floors, featuring historical materials and artifacts related to Chiba City. On the top floor an observation deck awaits, offering a full panorama view of the city!
Nighttime at Chiba Port Tower - Chiba Port Tower is Chiba's highest lookout point. While a bit more quaint than Tokyo Tower or Sky Tree, the souvenir shop on the bottom floor and expansive views accentuated by the sea make it an experience you can only get here on the corner of Chiba's main port. Like other lookout towers, you'll have a panoramic view of the surrounding area, with coin operated binoculars at the most picutresque points.
Transportation in and out of the city is easy, and whether you're going down the coast for sun and surfing or westward for a trip into Tokyo, Chiba City is a great place to live and work.

【About Shiraoka City (埼玉県白岡市)】
Located in central Saitama, Shiraoka is a cozy suburban area with plenty of charm and a lower cost of living. While primarily an agricultural area, it also acts as a bedroom community for neighboring Saitama City and the Tokyo metropolis. The Utsunomiya Line runs through it, and even the Shinkansen is accessible from nearby Kuki station, making it a great place to base oneself. Nearby attractions and sights of interest include the Tobu Zoo, Shishi Museum, Seiryu Sake Brewery, and plenty of shrines, temples and parks to visit. Just over 90 minutes to the center of Tokyo by train, Shiraoka is a convenient location to live and work in. It's easily one of the best places to teach in this year as an ALT.

【About Urayasu City (千葉県浦安市)】
Located in the northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture, Urayasu sits right between Chiba City and Tokyo itself. An area largely made up of reclaimed land, Urayasu can be neatly split between the old sector, a traditional fishing village area, and the new "American-inspired" area with wide, grid-like streets, palm trees and modern buildings. Urayasu is one of the most sought after areas for younger families to live in for a very clear reason- the city is the home of the Tokyo Disney Resort. If you love all things Disney, you won't find a better place in Japan to live and work. But even for the commuting type, Urayasu is easily accessible from other parts of Tokyo and Chiba by train and subway. Make Urayasu your teaching destination for 2026.

【About Wanouchi Town (岐阜県輪之内町)】
Located around 90 minutes away from Nagoya, Wanouchi Town is a small, peaceful community in Gifu Prefecture, surrounded by the Ibi and Nagara Rivers. Its name means “within a circle,” referring to the fact that it has been surrounded by water for centuries. Wanouci has a rich history of allowing nature to shape the layout of the town, as the many ring-levees built into the river were prone to frequent flooding. Visitors can learn about this past at the Wanouchi Flood Control Museum, then take a stroll along the historic levees themselves. Wanouchi offers some prime cherry blossom viewing in spring, and has several excellent regional and local festivals throughout the year. The Town even boasts its own unique dialect, a mixture of those found in Nagoya, Gifu and Kansai. With its quiet, rural charm, Wanouchi is a great destination to take your teaching career next.

【About Kasai City (兵庫県加西市)】
Located in south-central Hyōgo, the city of Kasai offers much for those seeking a quieter side of the Kansai region. Known for its beautiful flower gardens and idyllic scenery, it’s a pleasantly green city nestled among scenic mountains. The major cities of Kobe and Himeiji are accessible by public transport, but driving is encouraged to quickly navigate the city and surrounding areas. There are many unique sites to see- from the Gohyaku-Rakan statues (the 500 disciples of Buddha) to the elegant Hokkesan Ichijō-ji temple, history is to be found everywhere throughout the city. In a region rich in history, culture and cuisine, Kasai is fantastic place to live and work.
